TAKING CARE
O&G values objects that patina with age. Surfaces that grow rich with the signs of daily use are part of the joy of living with great design. Our solid wood furniture is designed and crafted to last a lifetime, to help it age gracefully we recommend the following care instructions:
Wood
Avoid environments with extreme changes of temperature, humidity or sun exposure.
Immediately clean spills with a dry cloth and follow up with a quick wipe from a soft, damp cloth.
Do not use cleaning products containing glycols (these cleaners can degrade our environmentally friendly, water based polyurethane.
Use trivets under hot items.
Use table cloths or placemats under dinnerware with raw, unglazed foot rims.
Metal
“Live” metal finishes are unlaquered and will mellow over time to a beautiful patina.
All of our “live” finishes leave our factory with a coat of museum grade wax, this creates a base for a slow, mellow patination.
Don’t be alarmed! The first signs of patina can be underwhelming. Be patient and let nature do its work, you will be rewarded!
Soft paste wax, such as Butchers or Renaissance applied with a soft cloth gives a nice feel and will slow the patination process.
LEATHER
All O&G leather is natural and aniline finished, and will patina and burnish with use.
We recommend Leder-Balsam leather balm or conditioner for regular maintenance.
Do not use leather polish.
WARRANTY
O&G Studio offers a (1) Year Warranty from the date of delivery against Defects in Material and Manufacturing. Items with defects resulting from manufacturing or material defects will be replaced or repaired at O&G’s sole discretion.
Natural Materials: O&G products are made from high quality, natural materials that are carefully selected to fit our standard for durability and beauty. We select wood for every component based on color, grain pattern and strength. Naturally occurring variations in wood such as changes in tone or grain pattern are not considered defects, no are minor knots, inclusions, checks or voids in the wood; all these are considered part of wood's natural beauty. Our leather is also a natural material, and some of the animal’s natural characteristics may feature on your furniture, such as veining, creases, healed scars, tone and grain difference, which should be appreciated as a mark of authenticity. These natural characteristics of our materials are not considered defects and are not covered under this Warranty.
Stain Finishes: O&G wood finishes are carefully applied for beauty and protection. Our stains are hand-mixed and hand-applied. This, coupled with the natural variations in wood grain and tone, creates a spectrum of variation which is part of the craftsmanship, beauty and signature look of our work. Exposure to UV light, chemical cleaners OR extremes of temperature can cause changes in the color and feel of a finish and are not covered under this Warranty. We recommend that our furniture, like all fine wood furniture, be placed in areas that have minimal exposure to UV light. Some change in tone over the life of your furniture is a natural part of the aging and patina process, and is not considered a defect, nor covered under this Warranty.
Hardware Finishes: Unless otherwise noted, all O&G metal finishes are un-laquered “live finishes” meant to patina and change over time, developing unique and beautiful depth. These changes are not considered defects and are not covered under this Warranty.
